Welcome to First Grade!!

Hi Everybody,

Welcome to first grade and the 2010-2011 school year. I am very excited to get to know all of my new students and their parents. I hope each one of you is as excited about the new year as I am, though I will admit that saying good-bye to summer is always hard. It's my favorite season of the year.

I will have high expectations for your child both academically and behaviorally. I hope that we are on the same page with that. From my experience, children will work to our expectations. But we need to work as a team toward one goal, preparing your child to be successful in his/her academic career. My first priority is to keep your child safe and then to prepare them to be ready to go on to second grade and be successful.

I will work closely with you throughout the year to keep you up to date on the progress of your child. We try to send home weekly newsletters as well as notes throughout the week if needed. However, if you have any questions throughout the year, please feel free to contact me at school during my scheduled break time or after 3:10. I will let you know my break time as soon as I do.

Your child will receive a supply list and classroom information on the first day of school. They will also have several papers that will need to be filled out and returned as soon as possible. Please get these back to school in a timely manner.

Enjoy these last few days of summer and I will see you and your child on Wednesday, August 4. Remember, our instructional day will begin at 8:00 this year. I will be in my classroom ready to greet your child at 8:45. See you then.
